Landcare Broken Hill hooks up with Broken Heel Festival...
We're creating an exciting new space at the Imperial Lakes Nature Park to carry on the spirit of this ground breaking festival!
The Broken Heel Festival has been a uniquely positive force in our community throughout the past decade, combining tradition and innovation to champion diversity and inclusion while showcasing our region and its many unique features to a national and international audience.
2024 will be the last time this groundbreaking event will be staged and Landcare Broken Hill, in cooperation with the festival organisers, has selected a special corner of its flagship project, Imperial Lakes Nature Park, to create the LGBTIQA+ Community Garden.
Positioned in the southeastern corner of the park, the garden will be developed to reflect the values championed by the Broken Heel Festival, a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTIQA+ Community, allowing the spirit of Broken Heel to live on as this distinctive space continues to evolve.

To celebrate the launch of the LGBTIQA+ Community Garden, a commemorative plaque will be created displaying the names of one hundred special people who helped bring to life this unique and fabulous sanctuary in our harsh Australian outback.
