Picnic for Nature 2024!
Nature Conservation Council holds this state-wide picnic weekend each year, aimed at bringing people together to celebrate nature, grow the movement and talk about how we can conserve nature. Last year they had almost 50 simultaneous picnics across NSW with over 1,000 people attending, hosted by 63 groups. Picnic hosts reported that it was a great event to reconnect with the local community, energise their group, link with other similar groups in their area and find new volunteers and members.
This year, Landcare Broken Hill decided to invite the community to the Imperial Lakes Nature Park to showcase the area where the Outback Children's Adventure Playground will be constructed. Broken Hill Community Credit Union and Rotary Club of Broken Hill cooked up a storm, serving over 100 sausage sandwiches. What a wonderful day... we can't wait to do it again next year!
